About the Opportunity

Nelson Motors and Equipment has an exciting opportunity for multiple full-time Agricultural Equipment Technicians, based in Redvers, Saskatchewan.

In this position, as a certified agriculture heavy-equipment mechanic, you will be responsible for independently performing complex diagnostics, servicing repairs, and maintaining customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing intricate diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment, including established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
  • Conducting on-site diagnosis and repair as necessary
  • Completing set-up and pre-delivery inspections for all equipment available for sale by the dealership
  • Mentoring Service Technician Apprentices and other team members, leading by example
  • Supporting or leading customer clinics
  • Providing comprehensive reports and necessary forms for assigned work
  • Tracking all time and materials used in assigned duties
  • Staying updated on the latest features and advancements in John Deere and competitor products
  • Preserving the condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Maintaining a tidy work area and executing tasks in an organized fashion
  • Adhering to all safety regulations during work assignments
  • Completing additional service tasks as directed by the Service Management System
  • Being available for work during regular business hours and overtime as needed and requested by management

More About You

Our ideal candidates have at least 5+ years of experience performing diagnostics and service repairs on agricultural, turf and/or heavy-duty equipment/machinery and a High School Diploma or equivalent education. Agricultural Equipment Technician with John Deere certification is a strong asset. Heavy Equipment Technicians will be considered. 

The following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Proficient in performing intricate repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment, adhering to technical manual procedures
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems utilized in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
  • Excellent skills in operating diagnostic vehicles and equipment
  • Adept in using Service Advisor (required for John Deere technicians)
  • Ability to repeatedly lift at least 75 lbs. as part of job requirements
  • A valid driver’s license is required and a forklift license is preferred
  • Background in farming or growing up on a farm preferred, embracing a small-town rural mentality and community spirit
  • 3rd or 4th level apprentices may be considered
  • Familiarity with the CDK business system (preferred)
  • Technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience in mentorship and training
  • Reliable, with a willingness to pitch in and help in a team-oriented setting
  • Willingness to go the extra mile, commitment to quality work, accountability, follow-through, and leading by example

About the Benefits

The successful candidates will be rewarded with $37 - $47 hourly wage (plus overtime and on-call pay) evaluated on knowledge, skills, experience, and certifications as well as: 

  • Signing bonus of $3750 after 3 months and another $3750 after 12 months (for candidates with a John Deere Agricultural Equipment Technician Certification or an Agricultural Equipment Technician Certification)
  • 3 weeks vacation according to Saskatchewan Employment Standards
